Shows to see: April 9-14th
This week’s concert round up picks three of our “must see,” shows of the week. You can check out our full calendar of upcoming shows here.
1. King Krule
King Krule might be one of the more innovative sound makers out there today. His dreamy and jazzy musical accompaniment paired with raw vocals that can sound almost punk at moments leave an impression. We'd imagine he's the mash up of David Bowie, The Clash, and St. Germain with a modern edge. Check out his set tonight at White Oak Music Hall at 7.
2. Bayou City Funk Album Release
Upbeat, engaging, and of course, funky, are three words to describe the nine piece collective of musicians that call themselves Bayou City Funk. This band first caught the staff's eyes as they opened for Naughty Professor recently, but kept our attention with their high tempo performance that kept audiences grooving. Their album (which we have on good authority is going to be fantastic) will be dropped this Saturday after a live performance featuring guests Sam Turner and the Free Radicals at the Continental Club at 8:30.
3. Big K.R.I.T
Mississippi native, acclaimed producer, and rapper Big K.R.I.T. will be rolling through Houston as a part of his Heavy is the Crown tour. This sold out set is sure to get the audience moving to the beats off his latest 4eva Is a Mighty Long Time. If you can manage to find tickets to the show, he will be performing at Warehouse Live at 8 this Thursday!
