For about seven years in the mid-aughts to the early 2010s, I gathered every shekel I could, far too little sunscreen, and a really rad band t-shirt and headed to Vans Warped Tour. At BSL, we have a hunch a lot of our readers did something similar.
This, friends, is the end of that era. As the festival climate changes, Warped Tour as we know it ends in 2018. Fret not, Houston: you get one last chance to let your inner-Mall Punk freak flag fly. The tour makes a stop at NRG Park this Sunday, July 8.
We'll preview some lesser known, local, and first time bands tomorrow. For now, let's take a look at some artists taking a victory lap this year. Whether they first appeared before or after Hot Topic painted the walls white, these bands know their way around the Summer festival circuit.
Reel Big Fish
Sell out! With Reel Big Fish one last time as the ska punk stalwarts head out on their eighth Warped Tour. These guys first set out on Warped Tour in 1997. That's literally the prior millennium. They've showed literal generations of concertgoers how to have a damn good time.

Coming from the heart of Warped Tour's Emo Kid era, The Used made their first appearance in 2002. If you haven't seen these guys live, you're missing out. Bert McCracken's pipes sounded better than ever on their 15th Anniversary Tour a few years back, and the opening notes to "Take It Away" still give use goosebumps 14 years later.
Simple Plan has managed to walk the fine line of growing older with their audience without abandoning their core sound. Still, it's one last go around for Warped Tour, and we all want to hear "Perfect" and lie about how we didn't cry after.

On the grittier end of Warped Tour, Chelsea Grin come in for their fourth appearance. The Deathcore band are actually touring behind a new album, Eternal Nightmare, due out July 13. At BSL we're looking forward to getting rocked in the pit while we catch some new tunes from the act.
