Weekly Houston Show Listing 1.20.23
Updated: Feb 17
It's technically Friday!! Let's do a shorty regarding what's going on this weekend in the Houston area as far as sets go. No brakes, no fluff this week, just music.
FRIDAY (TONIGHT)
Kick off your weekend in the dreamiest way possible at The Continental Club, Houston, TX with a show featuring Pope, Left Of West, Astralace, and April Company. This shoegaze showcase is a nice way to end a long work week or a great pregame to start a busy work week. $15 and doors at 8.
Let's say something alternative is on the menu tonight. Check out The White Swan Live to catch Acid Discharge, Bug Suckers, Laguna, and Vivaldi's Green Jacket. Doors at 7 for $7
Feeling something a little funky? Check out $10 Cover. Blind Uncle Charlie and Randy Soffar at Leon's Lounge-music is on at 9:30.
Catch a little honky tonk good good illuminated under the light of your favorite glowing pentagram at Black Magic Social Club with Jane Woe and the Dead Blinds. Doors at 8, $10
Is chilling in the studio more of your Friday night feel? Then be sure to check out 1SoundVibe Connections (3898 N Frwy F, Houston TX 77042) to check out the smooth sounds of Jasthephilo. Get your R&B fix for free!
SATURDAY (wHoA how did we make it here?)
Personally, I can not wait for another set by my favorite local Americana trio Runaway Revival. They will be performing at EQ Heights at 6:30 (oooo early enough you could pregame another set with this). Be sure to come say hi and listen to some playful sounds with me.
Indie dreams float around the city this weekend, and this Saturday is no exception. Pop-out to see our friends at Eighteen Ten Ojeman for a show featuring the constantly featured Camera Cult, 224 Orion, Rinas, and Strawberry Milk Cult. Doors at 7, tickets $8.
Want to celebrate talent? Don't miss Shoeshine Charley's Big Top Lounge annual Django Celebration. Be sure to catch a night of the best kind of tribute with doors at 9.
As for me, I love catching new sounds. Be sure to check out the bold and unique this Saturday at Bohemeo's at a set featuring How I Quit Crack, Attic Ted, and Ak'chamel. As always, details online are light and mysterious, you'll have to check this set out for yourself.
SUNDAY (make it a tolerable one)
Check out Axelrad this Sunday for a jazzy treat with Chaman. A nice way to unwind and set a great tone for the week. Set is 4-7.
Being blunt, I am hoping to flesh out this list a bit more throughout the weekend with some more Sunday options for you! Until then, enjoy your weekend, see a set, and let me know what I missed here!
