Weekly Houston Show Listing 3.29.23

Hellooooo beautiful humans, most of you know this is a one-woman operation so when I get busy ya'll get a little reprieve from my show listings. Guess who has a fresh batch of shows for ya?

This weekend because there are SO many sets Friday and Saturday I am listing out two days instead of three so you can have Sunday to recover.

Need something to do midweek? Tonight perhaps? Head to Echoes to catch Sister Silueta, Shama the Human, JotoMagico, and Electronics Super Group at 9PM. Also check out my recently updated calendar on my site for weekday dalliances: https://www.behindsecondlines.com/calendar

WITH ALL OF THAT OUT OF THE WAY:

FRIDAY:

If you'd like something explicitly artistic and might be interested in some free orange juice, I highly recommend catching The Orange Show featuring The Happening ft Who'd a Thunk, Claudia Durand, The Amazing Bozo, Coyotebloodbath, Jo3Jo3, Jypsy Jeyfree, Hannah Bull, and Mad Whit. As always this event is free and the talent goes on at 6PM at the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art.

After catching an awesome EP release there, I can confirm that Equal Parts Brewing is a sick place to catch a show. Frequency Heaven, Astragal, Bug Bites, and

Alexalone play this Friday starting around 7PM. Details can be found here Alexalone, Bug Bites, Astragal, Frequency Heaven at Equal Parts Brewing

Following a long week, perhaps you are craving something a little more intimate and personal. A showcase of amazing talent hosted by Jacob Hutto featuring Vivaldi's Green Jacket, Oh, Hooray, Pear Twig, and Arabic Cowboy along with local artists will happen at Bohemeo's at 7PM. This venue is all ages and this wonderful night will run you $10.

Maybe your week made you want to kick your boots into the air and get out some energy. There's a hardcore show for that. Check out Anti Trust, Juicebox, Social Static, and Pathogen at The White Swan Live. Music on at 8PM, cover $10

Nursing a Hell's Heroes hangover? Head over to one of the best venues in town The End to catch Duel, Warlung, Fostermother, and Kill the Lizard. Doors are usually around 8 at this venue and shows typically run between $10-15. This flyer was a bit vague, so you might need to ask the homies about cover with this one.

For more noisy goodness, be sure to stop by Black Magic Social Club to catch Only Beast, The Nerve Curlers, and Demonic Hen this Friday night. The price is right for $10, doors at 8.

If you are seeking some groovy sounds and a more mellow atmosphere, head over to Shoeshine Charley's Big Top Lounge to catch Blossom Aloe, Sigh of the Cantar, and Xanthan. Music is on at 9, cover is $10

SATURDAY (whoa, that was all one day?)

Are you ready for a single release? Check out a night of goodness hosted by Ganesha featuring The Halfpipes, Mutt, Artificial Fun, Your Disorder, Forget-Me-Nots, Otonana Trio, and Jeremy Carswell. All this can be found for $10 at The End and starts around 5 PM.

If you're looking to support a good cause this weekend, head over to Big Star Bar for a fundraiser supporting striking Starbucks employees. For a $5 donation, you get to enjoy the talents of Gila, Bug Bites, Mother Ghost, Undr Wrps, and Miss Anita Marie. Catch it all at 5PM.

Where will you find me? At Moon Tower Inn of course. They are hosting a huge array of local breweries and will also feature some tasty BBQ. Almighty Moon Tower Inn is putting on a party starring Goodgirl, Cucucuy, Jumprope, Left of West, and Kimkoro for FREE this Saturday, music goes on at 6PM, see you there.

If none of this sounds punk rock enough for you, check out Black Magic Social Club this Saturday then. They are featuring Voice of Addiction, Escape From the Zoo, Blanket of M, and Popperz. Music on at 9, $10.

Metal is alive and well in Houston, as it always is. Check out Metalriser, Exitium, KTGM, Paranoid, Execution, and Territory at The Compound this Saturday. Music on at 7, cover $15.

Do you even Houston if you haven't checked out a set at Eighteen Ten Ojeman? This Saturday they are hosting a badass lineup of musicians that tour the world including Liberty and Justice, Dream Shake, Dog Company, Bullshit Detector, and Grave City. Get there at 8PM, stay until Ram Ranch plays on the jukebox.

Guess who is hosting shows again? Dan Electro's Guitar Bar is! Check out a night of good music and good vibes FOR FREE. Listen to the talented Astralace, Vivaldi's Green Jacket, and Shama the Human at 9PM.

AND THAT'S 14 SHOWS. You should find yourself stopping by at least one show. As always, if I missed a few, let me know in the comments. Or let me know what you'll be doing Sunday to recover. Have a happy hump day you cheeky bastards. GO LISTEN TO LIVE MUSIC THIS WEEKEND.
