Weekly Houston Show Listing 1.12.23

Happy Thursday aka ALMOST FRIDAY! Houston's music scene is absolutely popping off this upcoming weekend with shows a plenty, so let's roll up our sleeves and see what the next few days have in store.

( Tonight if you are looking for some jams before planning your weekend of shows, be sure to check out local legend Nick Gaitan sharing Chicano music at the CAMH's Winter Sound series on their lawn from 6-8. )

FRIDAY (tomorrowwwwwwwww, tomorrow)

For those of you feeling like throwing elbows, you can always count on a few places in town to supply, one being The End. They are hosting a large lineup with Changed Mind, Good Guys, Aggressive Impulse, The Poserz, and more with doors at 7, $10 for a full lineup.

Maybe you are feeling like thrashing and celebrating? Check out the Ish Genius Birthday show featuring Ish, Anti Trust, Septik, The Halfpipes, and more at Warehouse Live-doors at 8, $15 for the night.

Is indie more the feel this Friday? If so, check out the Evil single release show at Leitners (2300 Louisiana) featuring the talent of Adult Superstition, Gray Falls, Acid Discharge, and Monkey Wrench. For $10 doors are at 6 with music on at 7.

For a bit of heavier sounds, pop by Black Magic Social Club to catch Kill The Lizard and Municipal Bats. Be sure to bring $10 cash to catch this act with doors at 8.

Houston lost a music legend recently, but Harry Sheppard's friends in Free Radicals are performing a free tribute in his honor at 9PM at AvantGarden Houston with no cover. Honor the memory of a talented human.

Veering in the direction of pop and indie rock that makes you feel nostalgic, you can get your fix at Last Concert Cafe this Friday. Bach Hotel and Small Talk will have you covered. Doors at 7.

Maybe you're in the mood for some tasty jazz licks. Check out jazz on the patio at Eighteen Ten Ojeman this Friday featuring several talented locals. Be there at 9.

SATURDAY (the 14th or something)

There will be a delightful lineup of dreamy dark goodness unraveling this Saturday at 3308 Garrow St. Goodgirl, Trembler, DJ Day Disguise, and Bug Bites will be bringing you all the sonic goodness you can handle for $10, doors at 8.

The Houston pop band I live and die by is no secret. It's Camera Cult. And they are performing in town twice this month (will I plug their set next week too? Absofreakinglutely) They will be playing with Pity Party Girls Club at 3898 N Fwy Frontage Rd Suite F, 7PM, $17 at the door. Come sing my favorite dreamy pop with me.

Check out another free show this weekend at Axelrad. Doors at 7 for a killer lineup including Fat Tony, Liberty & Justice, Chicano Boulevard, and Ishgenuis. Thanks to Wonky Power for this one!

If you are wanting to throw some bows again, another place you can be promised that honor is at Trip Six HTX. For $10 you can catch Skourge, Sexpill, Gutz, Substance, and Antitrust for a rowdy night that's sure to bruise.

There's another release show this weekend, Dwnkill has their Dark Times release party featuring Pinkie Promise, The Pozers, and El. Doors at 8 at 307 Lilac St.

For a jazzy Saturday, check out Leon's Lounge for Lush Life Jazz. Time is 8:30.

SUNDAY (if you've still got some steam)

Local reggae favorites dem roots music will be closing out their reggae brunch series at La Grange Houston. This closing show will happen from 1-4PM and is free, but I suggest you try some of the grits-they are worth the trip.

For some dreamy dazy feels to appeal to your hot goth girlfriend, check out Pisha and Coatie Pop perform at Eighteen Ten Ojeman. Not a ton of details for this set are out yet so keep an eye on their socials for cover and start times.

There is nooooo excuse to miss out on live music this weekend, and there is a buffet of options to choose from. I must bid you adieu for now so I don't miss that chicano music event!! As always, if I missed something you'd like me to promote, please share in the comments!
