Weekly Houston Show Listing 2.24.23
It's late on a Friday afternoon, (well, early evening) and you're wondering what to do. I've got you. Let's dig into Houston area shows this weekend. This is going to be more of a list and maybe short notes on shows this week.
FRIDAY (TONIGHT)
Houston's thrash scene has heart, and they lost a big piece of that heart this past week. Go support the cause and catch Legacy of Angel Yong-Your Disorder, Nemisis, Mutt, The Poserz, Exitium, The Halfpipes, Void, Septik, Terror Form, and Spitfire. It's at The Compound, doors are $10 and additional donations to support the family will be accepted.
Check out something a bit mellow and technically beautiful with David Ramirez and Dylan LeBlanc. 7:00pm-11:00pm at The Heights Theater, $35.
Our favorite hybrid venue Bohemeo's is hosting some indie rock goodness featuring Forget Me Nots, Breaker, Goosechase, and Same Old Circles tonight, 7:00pm.
Put your money to good and enjoy a mixed lineup at the Root Cause Fundraiser featuring TheyWun, Kali Crew, Maria Alducin, Josh Puente, The Amazing Bozo, Tres Leches, Aimee Raven, SeaSic, Mister Wario Bro, Brennan Passon, Cluster Cuss, Zoonido Zoonido and Blossom Aloe. This fundraiser is donation based and is 7:00pm on at Montrose Studios.
Finally for some noisy goodness check out Your Disorder, Pisstest, Hellfury, Necrotic Society at 8:00pm at Trip Six HTX.
SATURDAY (This one is stacked)
First off for some daytime bops check out Rodeo Screwston: Disko Cowboy, Baby Roo and G-Funk 1:00pm-4:00pm at 8th Wonder Brewery. Go shopping and catch some cool tunes from my favorite meme maker.
I can not wait for Jumprope's EP release! Check out Jumprope, Goodgirl, The Poserz, It Just Doesn't Matter, Pinkie Promise, Sergio Trevino and friends pack out Equal Parts Brewing at this free (?!) magical show, starting at 5:00pm. You would be wild not to catch some of these bands, they are some of the finest in town.
There's a deep bounty of indie this weekend, and House of J has their Free AF show (which is always free)featuring Muff Boyz, Bug Suckers, Breathwish, El Jumbotron, Glia, and Dante's Room, music on at 5:00pm.
It pains me that I can't multiply myself to catch all the shows I want to see. Be at The Compound this Saturday to catch Inner Self, Joust, Limbless, Talkin, Blood Monday, and Life is Pain at 7PM, $15 cover.
For some smoother sounds with some rap peppered in, check out lil dusty g, Ronen, hellstrvck, Tristan Wells and Kbackwood$ at Soul'd Out, 7PM.
Check out some heavy sounds at The End feat. Bullet Machine, Sloth Fist, Toxic Origin, and Notfugazi at 8:00pm for $10
If there's a show I never miss, it's an EMP one. Check out Vivaldi's Green Jacket, Flender, El Mantis and EMP invade The Kickback Bar 9:00pm for $12.
SUNDAY (oh yes, there is more)
This is the weekend for good causes. Check out Mo Lerma (with friends), Turnaways, and The Holiday Arsonists for an awesome fundraiser at Axelrad starting at 3:00pm.
The great part about Sunday matinees is you can catch another set later if you'd like. Check out The Low Blow, Laguna, and Love You, Love Bug at The Kickback Bar, music at 7, $10 cover.
I had the pleasure of meeting a local artist with the most incredible voice recently. Check out a sofar concert featuring Uliya/Daddy Princess. As always these shows are cryptic intentionally not announcing the locale until a few hours before so go to the site to snag tickets. The show starts around 7:30pm
There are so many shows supporting some excellent ass causes this weekend, so be sure to hit up a few. I know rodeo season is upon us and there are lots of shows to be had there as well, but I'll keep featuring some stuff around town that features locals! Let me know if I missed anything else! HAPPY WEEKEND!
As a reminder, all these are listed as well as weekday shows at my site: https://www.behindsecondlines.com/calendar
