Hold on boys and girls, Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes has teamed up with Nashville singer-songwriters Jesse Lafser and Becca Mancari to form the trio Bermuda Triangle. After debuting in July 2017 at the Basement East in Nashville, Bermuda Triangle has captivated audiences with their exquisite vocal harmonies and demonstrated they’re a force to be reckoned with. After beginning their tour in California on Feb. 3 and touring throughout Oregon and Washington, their tour will be wrapping up here in Texas on April 6.
Howard rose to prominence as the lead vocalist of blues rock band Alabama Shakes while Lafser and Mancari have both produced solo work – Raised in the Plains and Good Woman, respectively.
The trio has released two singles, “Rosey” and “Suzanne,” and while the songs are soft and sweet, they are rich and full of quiet power that can’t be ignored. In “Rosey,” the background strings are gentle and never overwhelming – you might just find yourself lost in the harmony of the trio’s voices as they perfectly capture the bittersweet emotions of letting go of a lover. “Suzanne” features similar feelings of longing as it describes the ache of wishing to be loved by someone whose heart still belongs to someone else. For anyone who has ever experienced the pain of letting go or felt overshadowed by the memory of a past love, Bermuda Triangle will be sure to strike a chord.
If you’re in Houston and loving Bermuda Triangle as much as we are, the trio will be performing on April 4 at The Heights Theater. Nashville-based Liz Cooper & The Stampede will be opening for Bermuda Triangle. The show begins at 8 p.m. with doors opening at 7 p.m.
