Ever have fate just hand you something great? I did on the fate filled day of Houston Punkfest 2018. The annual charity event promotes Houston's punk rock scene (check out our gallery here and more projects in the works on this festival to come) and pulls in some really bad ass talent. While shooting some video and photos of the festival one of the event's organizers urged me to stay inside to catch some band from Austin with a name that made me audibly ask, "what the hell did you just say?"
Hans Gruber and the Die Hards are the most badass punk band you could think of. When they hit the stage, their thrashing and wild antics alone are worth the trip. Lead singer TJ is a firecracker of epic proportions. Their violent songs are short, sweet, and to the point. Layers of sound stacked on top of each other produce such sweet chaos, that you can't help but want more. This band has a unique sound that is sharp and precise. Their stage presence is engaging and rowdy. If you aren't on your feet at their set there is likely something wrong with you. Honestly, as much as I cover and encourage punk, it can be intimidating to get into. Hans Gruber and the Die Hards make it easy like Sunday morning. Speaking of Sunday, the group is gracing us with their presence as a part of a Live and Loud Productions (shoutout to Johnae who puts on the best damn shows in the city) set this Sunday alongside Round Eye and Punk Rock Project at Spruce Goose Social Flyers Club starting at 7 PM. Not being there would be a mistake of epic proportions that you would certainly regret. Check out more event details here and more Hans Gruber and the Die Hards here.
